Thursday Musing: I Shall Not Be Moved
I have friends who have their artwork hanging within a few weeks of their moving, but I am slow to be moved. I have lived in Culpeper for 5 years and I still don'’t know where to put my stuff. We moved here under sad circumstances as we bought my in-laws house after they passed away, and I could not bring myself to get rid of some of their stuff. Well, it was obvious that I would never need 13 lasagna pans, or 15 pie pans, so they went immediately into the garage. Then I left town while my boys had a garage sale! There are some places that are sacred memories-- – like the drawer in the kitchen where Pearl kept the Happy Meal toys for the grandchildren, and the suitcase of hardware that Rally would reach into when he needed to fix something.
This week, I finally got rid of the Tums and vitamins hanging around in the medicine cabinet. I could have thrown that out much sooner, but I had to get a ladder to see in there. There are some kitchen gadgets that I still don'’t know how to use, and some paperwork that I am afraid might be important. I realize that I am comfortable in clutter and cramped conditions, but enough is enough and I should move myself to move here. I really hope to figure out the light switches one day, and learn where my clothes go, because I can'’t seem to move them off of the floor! -- SD for TBC
What’s Up with The Braeded Chord
We had so much fun this summer it’s hard to know where to begin. The week-end in New Jersey was amazing-- at the campground, Sharon was a hit when she remembered several songs in French (the majority of campers that week-end were French Canadian), and the concerts at the church were so memorable. We were astounded to see friends from North Carolina who just happened to be at church that week-end. We could write a book about how much fun we had at our Virginia gigs in Occoquan, Gainesville, Fairfax, Alexandria and the unbelievable week of Teen Worship Boot Camp. Now, it’s our noses to the grindstone as we are in the final phase of our recording project, mixing and mastering. We hope to have it shrink-wrapped and ready to go sometime this fall. You'’ll be the first to know when it’s done!
